About me (Intro Essay)

Hand in Hand

I was raised in a Christian home, going to church every Sunday. I have always believed in God. An important part of being a Christian is read my Bible, but I don’t give myself enough time to read His word. I love to read, but I find myself finding other things to do, like playing games with my family, watching a movie or hanging out with friends. It is important to me to be with family and friends, but now I have reached a point in time in which I desire to read my Bible more and grow in my relationship with Christ. So for my 30-day challenge I will read my Bible every day for 15 minutes, growing to an hour later.

My relationship with Christ is very important to me, He has proven Himself to me in many ways. I was in a major car accident that I should not have walked away from. All I can say is that it is because of Him that I am still here. As we rolled I could feel my Saviors arms wrapped around me. I know He is my best friend and will always be there for me. I find myself regretting not spending more time in his word, after all he has done for me. Now a very close friend has begun asking me questions about my faith, questions that I should easily have an answer to. Many of his questions, such as ‘Why are there some many religions?’ and ‘How do you know which one is right?’, I do not have the answers to. I am excited to say that I have started a Bible Study with him so that together we can find the answer to his many questions together. My prayer is he will find a relationship with Christ, so he may know the same joy I know through my personal relationship with Christ.

Between my study with him, as well as reading my Bible every day for 15 minutes I hope to expand my relationship with Christ and knowledge of my own faith. I hope that by doing my own study on the side I can better guide my friend in our Bible Study together. I know within the pages of my Bible we will find every answer, answers that will lead him to peace and clarity. I also hope that this will help me make a habit of reading my Bible every day for 15 minutes, eventually expanding it to an hour.

Between both work and school, I am never home, so my 15 minutes will be during my breaks at work or between classes at school. I am going through some difficulty at work right now, a manager made a sexual comment to me at work and now coworkers have begun gossiping about me. I have a lot of self-doubt and my experiences at work have put my confidence at an all-time low. I have to deal with what happened, is happening, on a daily basis and so without my faith I know I won’t make it through this time. So I am hoping reading my Bible at work for them all to see will expel these rumors. Even if it doesn’t I know that reading my Bible daily will help me to gain more confidence as I learn to see how Christ sees me, that others opinions do not matter.

We live in a world where you are judge before you are even known, whether it be for your faith, sexual orientation, race, etc., and it is easy to doubt yourself and your beliefs. Sadly, I have seen many turn from their beliefs, not just religious beliefs. They have even accepted things they don’t truly believe just to avoid the judgement, to be one of the crowd. I have always known this to be true, but it has become more personal a fact as days at work become a struggle to survive.
I will no longer allow myself to do the same and will find time to read my Bible on a daily basis, even if it is at work for my judge mental coworkers to see me spending time with my heavenly Father who loves me, and I get to love in return. My beliefs in Him will never change, only grow stronger. Sunday’s will always be for church, and my reading of my Bible will become my favorite time of my days. I am looking forward to expanding my understanding of His word and strengthening my relationship with, and my belief in, Him. No matter what comes my way, I know with Christ I can make it through it all, the good and the bad. I also can’t wait to see where He will lead my friend, the discovery of a wonderful friend who is always by your side. As the Bible says ‘Seek and ye shall find.’ God will never hide himself from me or you, He is always there waiting for us to open the door of our hearts.
